Not a financial institution

Weave is not a bank, money transmitter, or financial institution, and provides no tax or legal advice. Weave never holds, pools, routes, or pays out funds. Money flows directly from each contributor to the host — either as a charge on the host's own connected account, or by the contributor tapping a prefilled link to pay the host in their own payment app (Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal). Weave has no balance and never sends money to anyone.

Cost-sharing, not income

Contributions a host receives to cover a shared subscription or service are cost-sharing among the participants, not income. A host may not receive more than their actual cost (no markup). Each participant can see every share and verify the totals.

How payments work

Weave does not process payments. It computes each person's share, then either the host's own payment processor charges the contributor directly, or the contributor is given a prefilled link to pay the host in their own app and the host confirms receipt. Weave never touches the money.

Privacy Policy

Weave collects a phone number, and optionally an email address and name. The phone number is used for sign-in codes (one-time codes sent by text) and account notifications — Thread updates, invites, and payment reminders.

Text messages are sent in two separate ways. A one-time sign-in code is sent to your number only when you ask for one, and is the only text required to sign in. Recurring account messages — contribution reminders and the automatic-payment setup offer — are sent only if you tick the separate optional checkbox shown beside the phone field, which is unchecked by default and is never required in order to use Weave. Message frequency varies with your account activity, typically fewer than 10 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, START to resume, or HELP for help. About these texts

Weave never sells or shares phone numbers for marketing. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties.

Weave uses a small set of sub-processors: Telnyx sends text messages, and Resend sends emails. For hosts using automatic billing, Stripe processes payments — you enter payment details directly on Stripe's own hosted form, and Weave never receives or stores card or bank details.

Account information is kept for as long as an account is active. Contribution records are kept as long as needed for accurate host records.

Terms of Service

Weave is a cost-sharing coordinator: it computes each participant's share of a Thread's cost and coordinates collecting it. Weave is not a bank, money transmitter, or payment processor. It never holds, pools, routes, or pays out funds — money moves directly between a contributor and the host.

Every Thread has exactly one payee, its host. Contributions go to that host — never to Weave, and never to another member.

A host may not collect more than their actual cost for a Thread. The sum of every participant's share can never exceed what the host actually pays.

A host is responsible for the accuracy of the amount they set, for confirming payments they receive, and for using Weave only to share the cost of a real, shared service or expense.

Weave is not a party to any payment between a contributor and a host, and is not responsible for a payment that is late, disputed, or never made.

Weave may suspend or terminate an account that misuses the service, including fraud, abuse, or use outside its cost-sharing purpose.

Weave is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind, and is not liable for loss arising from use of the service.
