About these texts

Weave account notifications sign-in codes and Thread activity

The short version

Weave sends one-time sign-in codes to the mobile number you enter, when you ask for one. If you also tick the optional box described below, it sends notifications about the shared costs (“Threads”) you belong to. Messages come from a phone number registered to Weave, and Weave never sends promotional or marketing texts.

Message frequency varies with your account activity, typically fewer than 10 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, START to resume, or HELP for help.

How to opt in

Consent is in two separate parts, and the second one is optional. Nothing on this site requires you to agree to recurring messages in order to use it.

1. The sign-in code, which you ask for. Go to weweave.biz/login and type your mobile number into the field labelled “Phone number”. Directly below that field, before the “Text me a code” button, the page states:

“By continuing you agree to receive a one-time sign-in code by text at this number. This is the only text required to sign in. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”

Pressing the button sends one sign-in code to that number, because you asked for it. That is the whole of it: it enrolls you in nothing, and no further message follows.

2. Recurring account messages, which you opt in to. In its own section below the phone field is a separate checkbox, unchecked by default and entirely optional. You can sign in without it. Its label reads:

“Optional - also text me about my Threads: contribution reminders and payment updates.”

“Not required to sign in. Weave never sends promotional or marketing texts - only messages about your account and the state of your payments. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”

Only ticking that box turns on contribution reminders and the automatic-payment setup offer. If you have never ticked it, those are never sent. The same checkbox appears when you accept an invitation to a Thread, and on your profile page, where you can turn it off again at any time.

On the sign-in page that box always appears unticked, even after you have opted in. It has to: showing your real setting on a signed-out page would tell anyone who typed your number whether it has a Weave account. So ticking it turns reminders on, and leaving it unticked at a later sign-in never turns off something you already turned on. Turning it off is done on your profile page, which does show your current setting because you are signed in by then, or by replying STOP.

If someone invites you to a Thread

Someone already using Weave who is sharing a cost with you enters your mobile number on their own Thread page, and confirms that they have your permission to text you. You receive one message identifying Weave, with a link to view and accept the invitation, and including “Reply STOP to opt out.” If you don't accept, you receive nothing further.

What we send

Six kinds of message, and nothing else. Weave never sends promotional or marketing texts, never advertises anything, and never messages you on behalf of a third party. Every message below is about your own account or the state of your own payments.

message when needs the optional opt-in how to stop it
Sign-in code You press “Text me a code” No Reply STOP, then sign in by email
Thread invite A host invites you to a shared cost No Reply STOP
Contribution reminder Each cycle, while you owe a share Yes Untick it on your profile, or reply STOP
Amount-change notice Before your share changes No — required by ACH rules Reply STOP
Automatic-payment receipt After a scheduled payment clears No “Text me when a payment goes through”, on your profile
Setup offer One line inside a reminder Yes Untick it on your profile, or reply STOP

Stopping, resuming, and getting help

Reply STOP to any message and Weave stops texting that number. This is permanent until you resume, and it applies to every kind of message above, including sign-in codes, so if you opt out, sign in by email instead.

Reply START to resume messages to a number that previously replied STOP.

Reply HELP for help, or write to support@weweave.biz.

STOP, START and HELP are matched exactly and are not case-sensitive. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT all work the same way as STOP.

Cost, carriers, and your data

Message and data rates may apply. Weave does not charge you for text messages, but your mobile carrier may, depending on your plan. Message delivery is not guaranteed and depends on your carrier.

Weave never sells or shares phone numbers for marketing. Text messages are delivered by Telnyx on Weave's behalf. Full details are in the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.

Questions about this messaging program can be sent to support@weweave.biz.
